Over the years I have had boots made by all the usual suspects: brasher; merrell; berghaus; north face; hi tec etc. Some have been really comfy and serviceable, others complete rubbish.I decided after getting wet, cold feet yet again to invest in a new pair so started to have a look around to see what I could find. I was surprised to find Grisport - I had not heard about them before and was quite taken by the fantastic reviews and great value.I originally ordered a pair of Dartmoor shoes, but was disappointed with the support. So it returned them and decided to give the Timber boots a try. They arrived yesterday and the first thing I noticed was the quality - they are up there with much more expensive brands. The fit is good - I am a 4 in shoes, but always go up a size in boots (many years ago I was talked into purchasing a very expensive pair of boots in my normal shoe size - they were okay for short walks but completely useless for longer hikes. There is nothing worse than walking downhill with boots that are too snug!). I am glad I did as they are roomy but not that long. Comfy out of the box, wearing a thick pair of socks, I walked about three miles in them yesterday with no problem except for the collar around the top of the boot which is a little stiff (I am absolutely sure this will break in). These boots are substantial and very well made. I like the fact that they are made in Europe too. What I must not forget to tell you is that although substantial these weigh in at an incredible 500 grams each! I cannot beleive how light they are!So, so far so good. I will update my review from time to time to let you know how I get on with them, but if I were you I would not hesitate to buy.
